COMMUNITY INPUT NEEDED!!

THE PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE and THE PUTNEY SELECT BOARD

ARE HOSTING A

PUBLIC SAFETY CONCERNS - COMMUNITY MEETING

AUGUST 18, 2016

7:00 PM

PUTNEY FIRE STATION

What type of police service do you want?  What public safety concerns do you have?

Recently, the Town was faced with making an important and difficult decision regarding our policing contract.  The Select Board and the Public Safety Committee held several meetings and ultimately decided to sign a six month contract with the Windham County Sheriff’s Department for 20 hours a week of police coverage.  The first step in figuring out what to do after the six month contract is complete, is to hold a community meeting and get as much input as possible, this will help us make the best decision for the Town of Putney.  We are currently exploring options, gathering data and talking to other towns.  We look forward to hearing from you!!  If you have any input, questions or suggestions prior to the meeting please contact Cynthia Stoddard, Putney Town Manager at (802) 387-5862 x11.

The Grand List and Lister Cards are now available online using the following link:  Info

PUTNEY FIRE DEPARTMENT

CALL TO ACTION

THE PUTNEY FIRE DEPARTMENT NEEDS YOUR HELP

Over the past fifteen years, for a vast number of reasons, the number of volunteer firefighters and emergency medical technicians available for response to emergencies within Putney, and to surrounding communities, has dramatically declined.

Unfortunately, we have yet to be successful in replacing the number of members we have lost, which has resulted in your fire department’s need for a number of new volunteers.

The Putney Fire Department is actively recruiting new volunteers to join our emergency services family.

If you are energetic, enthusiastic, and ready to learn, WE WANT YOU!

If you want to become a part of a dedicated and professional emergency response organization, WE WANT YOU!

If you want to be a part of the highly rewarding experience of helping your neighbors during their time of need, WE WANT YOU!

If you are interested in taking advantage of this rewarding and satisfying opportunity, and would like additional information, please contact Chief Thomas Goddard at the Putney Fire Department at 802-387-4372; Stop at the station to see us; or speak with any of our current members.

We look forward to working with YOU!!!

VT-ALERT ANNOUNCEMENT

VT-Alert is a new all-hazards emergency alerting and notification system, provided to all citizens for use by the Vermont Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

The web-based program allows for citizens to receive real-time emergency messages and instructions from local and state officials via a variety of mechanisms, including text message, e-mail, land-line telephone, and cellular phone.

Recently, the Town of Putney adopted VT-Alert as its primary means to provide mass notification and instruction to those who register for the service.

The Town of Putney will disseminate information and specific guidance, as warranted, regarding road closures, severe weather warnings and issues, hazardous conditions, and many other emergency circumstances.

In order for this service to have the best possible impact, the Town of Putney and the Putney Fire Department strongly urge everyone to register for this crucial service. In order to register, visit www.vtalert.gov , and enter the “Sign up for VT Alerts” tab.

If anyone would like more information, or would like assistance in establishing their account, please contact Town Manager Cynthia Stoddard, or Fire Chief Thomas Goddard.
